Our Story

Our name “Swiss” is originally derived from the Swiss finish given to table linen, popular at the time, but over the years we have built up a strong recognisable brand based on all things “Swiss”. Reliability, quality, efficiency and a clean freshness are all features that one associates with Switzerland and hence we use the Swiss flag as our logo.

The Turvill family has controlled the Swiss laundry for over 80 years, with Guy Turvill, Chairman and Richard Turvill, the current Managing Director being the third generation of his family in the post. The business continues to be run on “old fashioned” family values with a real focus on detail and customer service.

The company continues to provide specialist laundry, linen hire and work wear services primarily to the hospitality market. Swiss also offers a Dry Cleaning service for business through a third party partnership . Through a combination of investment in the latest energy efficient technology, using the best available solvents and chemicals and by employing skilled employees, we like to think we provide an unrivalled level of performance and service

In 2004, the Swiss Laundry acquired Camplings Linen (an Independent Laundry based in Great Yarmouth) as part of the Company’s plans for growth. This sister company still operates from the same site in Great Yarmouth and provides the same quality Commercial Linen & Laundry services to Customers throughout Norfolk & Suffolk.

Both Swiss & Camplings operate to the same philosophy that   ‘it’s the service that makes the difference’

In 2016 Camplings moved to a new purpose built laundry a couple of miles from its original location, employing the latest low energy technologies to present a more sustainable and resilient operation for our Customers.

Building on the success of the investment in the new laundry for Camplings, the Winter of 2019 witnessed the relocation of Swiss Laundry to a large state of the art laundry processing facility in Papworth (Cambridge).

Today Swiss Camplings is arguably operating two of the most environmentally friendly, low energy laundries in the country and is proud to service the hospitality sector across East Anglia and the Midlands.

Now you can take a look at two videos which share some of the history and developments in our business history, most notably the investment in two new plants.

Please take a few minutes to watch them, and learn more about the Swiss Camplings story, our heritage and values, and find out how we continue to deliver ‘the service that makes the difference’.
